Happy Thanksgiving from Monett R-1!    No School Wednesday - Friday, November 26th - November 28th: Thanksgiving Break; No School Monday, December 1st: Teacher Professional Development Day;

Welcome to Monett Elementary School
Lock down
Monett Elementary went into lockdown for about 10 minutes on Nov. 20, 2014 as Monett Police were involved in looking for 2 people that were involved in a chase near the elementary school. Both suspects were apprehended shortly after the search began and school routines resumed as normal. Teachers were able to carry on with instruction inside the classroom during this short period as the elementary school was not in immediate danger. We will be sending home a letter with all students today explaining this incident. Please talk with your child at home tonight and ask them questions about what their procedure is when they go into lockdown at school. Although these incidents are unfortunate and raise our level of concern, it is also very good practice for us to use our crisis procedures in situations that are "cautionary" and not "critical".
Students of the Week 11-17-14

Monett Elementary selected the following responsible students to be named Student of the Week for November 17, 2014:

Front Row: Andrea Villa, Audrey Witham & Evan Snarey

Back Row: William Lane Horner, Aiden Cavnar, Jesse Gammroth & Emma Oakley

ALL PRO DAD's Meeting
Today was our 2nd All Pro Dad's meeting and breakfast.  Dads are invited once per quarter to come to school early with their child and participate in a short discussion led by Coach Jeremy Land (MHS boys basketball coach).  The focus of each of these meetings is on building relationships and communication skills with your child.  Each meeting begins with each father introducing their child and telling the group one thing they are proud of their child for.  There is a short video and time for parent/child interaction on the topic for that day.  We conclude each meeting with door prizes and breakfast in the cafeteria.  If you haven't been a part of this yet, it's not too late!  Our next All Pro Dad meeting is set for Feb. 10, 2015 beginning at 7:00 in the commons.  We would love to have any dad, grandpa, uncle, step-dad, etc.... who would like to participate with their child!
