Welcome to Monett Elementary School
MES Celebrates 100 Days of School!
Do you know what was special about January 26th? What was celebrated this day is a pretty big deal around the elementary school each year. Why? This particular day each year (January 26th this year) celebrates the 100th day of school! Each year students celebrate getting to the hundredth day with a variety of activities focused around counting: one-to-one correspondence, ones/tens/hundreds place value, skip counting to 100, writing about topics related to 100 and showing off their “hundreds” skills in many other ways. Some classes used an app on the iPad to “morph” themselves into looking 100 years old and then wrote about what they would do when they were 100. They also wrote about what they would do if they won $100! Many students came to school with shirts representing 100 of something!! What will you do when you are 100 years old?

ALL PRO DAD's Meeting
Dads are invited once per quarter to come to school early with their child and participate in a short discussion led by Coach Jeremy Land (MHS boys basketball coach). The focus of each of these meetings is on building relationships and communication skills with your child. Each meeting begins with each father introducing their child and telling the group one thing they are proud of their child for. There is a short video and time for parent/child interaction on the topic for that day. We conclude each meeting with door prizes and breakfast in the cafeteria. If you haven't been a part of this yet, it's not too late! Our next All Pro Dad meeting is set for Feb. 10, 2015 beginning at 7:00 in the commons. We would love to have any dad, grandpa, uncle, step-dad, etc.... who would like to participate with their child!
At MES, we envision a safe environment that works in partnership with our community to ensure student success in the following ways:
*Implementing a school-wide positive behavior support system
*Continually celebrating student/staff success across all areas
*Focusing professional development on specific needs of staff and students
*Providing differentiated, data-driven instruction
*Active involvement in school-sponsored activities
